The PD Sound Source System

Phase Distortion (PD) operates by altering a sine wave, resulting in the creation of diverse waveforms. This innovative approach revolutionized waveform generation beyond basic sine waves. The CZ series initially produced 8 fundamental waveforms, which were then cascaded to yield a total of 33 distinctive waveforms.

An Extensive Parameter Set for Rich Sound Creation

• WAVE FORM (DCO1/DCO2)
  Users can choose from 8 basic waveforms for each of the two sound sources, allowing for a vast spectrum of sounds through various combinations—36 different waveforms in total.
• KEY FOLLOW
  The Key Follow feature (DCW1/DCW2) modulates waveforms based on keyboard pitch range. Another feature (DCA1/DCA2) adjusts envelope duration accordingly.
• DETUNE/LINE SELECT
  The application supports four line outputs (1, 2, 1+2 or 1+1), providing flexibility based on user needs. With two DCOs, detuning enhances pitch variations across an extended range of ±4 octaves, aiding in achieving desired harmonic emphasis and chorus effects.
• RING/NOISE MODULATION
  Ring modulation produces metallic sounds with non-integer harmonics, while noise modulation effectively generates percussive effects.
• ENVELOPE GENERATOR
  Each DCO, DCW, and DCA core block includes an envelope generator that allows for dynamic changes in tuning, tone, and volume over time.
